They sit in front of the TV

Both engrossed with “The Simpsons”;

Gratefully, an escape for me

But, just for the moment;

Soon, they will ask:

Where is Daddy?

The other day, I teased the girl

“You have daddy’s eyes”;

The boy looked up from the computer,

“What about me”? He asked.

Unflustered, I answered:

“You have his nose;

I could feel their eyes boring into my flesh

As I await their next question:

“When is daddy coming home”?
